AIPES STANCE ON MOLYBDENUM (Mo/Tc) SUPPLY
International and governmental studies have demonstrated the constant and future need of Molybdenum for diagnostic imaging purposes in the next 25 years.
AIPES considers that enough effective mid and long term solutions have now emerged to overcome the current Molybdenum supply issue, covering not only irradiation, but also chemical purification, pharmaceutical manufacturing and the final delivery to the hospitals and patients.
The initial manufacturing phases as irradiation and separation facilities impose solutions which require partnerships across Europe between private and public organisations (PPP). This is due to the significant financial investments in design, safety, logistics and construction, as well as the political decision making related to its nuclear nature. AIPES considers that the appropriate economical viable and political conditions need to be created so that those solutions, new and proven technologies, can be implemented. This can only be achieved if all stakeholders, both public and private, work together under the EU leadership.
The AIPES members are willing to play their full role in the challenge and to assume their responsibilities.
